Zion Lutheran Church and School, “Love, Inspire, Engage, Equip.”

Our Lord in Matthew 28 commanded his followers to, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”  Our church and school work together to fulfill this great commission to the world and to our corner of the world, Decatur, IN.  We work together to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and to teach how to observe all He has commanded.

As a church we seek to make disciples of all nations by teaching and proclaiming the Word of God in worship and in Bible studies.  It is through the Word of God that people receive faith in Jesus Christ and trust that He is their savior.  At Zion we not only want to talk about our faith but to put our faith into action as we love and serve our neighbor.  As a church we are not here simply to take care of ourselves but to be a place where the hurting are healed, where the broken are made whole, and where we can be the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus to those around us.

As a church we are looking for ways that we can be of service to our community and to empower all our members to go out and make disciples, to “Love, Inspire, Engage, Equip.”  Our goal is that we don’t simply live out our faith on Sundays but that we live out our faith where we work, play, and live.

At Zion Lutheran School we seek excellence in teaching children the skills that they will need to succeed in the world.  Yet our school does not simply teach academics but a Christian worldview.  We seek to teach children the truths of scripture and to fulfill that part of the great commission that says “and teaching them observe all that I have commanded you.”

Zion Lutheran School seeks to be a safe place for children to learn, to grow in their faith, to form friendships, and to work together as a team.  The school exists not only to teach children but to aid parents in the raising of their children in the faith that has been delivered to us from the Word of God.

It is the hope and prayer of Zion Lutheran Church and School that you would come and visit one of our worship services, attend a bible class, or observe one of our school classrooms.  Come and see the amazing things that God is doing at Zion as we work to be a place displaying, “Love, Inspire, Engage, Equip.”
